Loved Roger & Christine's comments on the new meetings industry PR campaign ... it's high time our voices are heard in the media. How can I volunteer to get involved?

I agree with you. There should be more conversations like this about our industry. Our city is about to cut our CVB's budget. Not really knowing our understanding what it will do to their city as a whole. I would also like to volunteer in some way.
We should all speak in one voice to as many people and organizations as possible.

Hi there! Can you give me some more information on the meeting industry PR campaign that you're speaking of? Thanks!

Meeting Industry Voice - On a local level, Seattle's CVB is galvanizing the hospitality industry to educate our local politicians. We created a website http://www.visitseattle.org/tourismmatters/ that helps educate everyone. This was created because last year our local government took $65M from our "hotel/motel taxes" and re-directed it for low income housing. We will be having our 2nd annual "Tourism Day" March 9, 2009 in Olympia, WA and are reaching out to every member from taxi drivers to hotel General Managers to participate and educate the Washington State political leaders.
